Brien Scott // Music + Production // San Francisco 07 I've begun working with electronic dance music, both as a DJ and producer, experimenting in fusing post-punk themes and sensibilities with the sweaty thump and joy of the underground dance scene. the Johnwhaleys // Songs + Guitar + Voice // Eureka 96-97 The Johnwhaleys, named after my high school music teacher, began sometime between Meg getting a bass and Mark coming by to play drums for a poorly recorded, post-Push demo. We liked to flirt with rawk, unrecognisably tearing the living hell out of Stones, Bunnymen and Cash covers. Our one gig at a Humboldt Beltaine bash was a fantastic, shambling mess. I wish I had a recording of that show. Listen to the Johnwhaleys
Dreamhouse // Songs + Bass // Eureka 88-90 Dreamhouse was my first band. We meant well. We were young. We're sorry. Steven Pitsenbarger sang and played horns. David Reed, who later started Push with me, played guitar. Future Chowderhead leader Xeff Scolari played guitar and keyboard. Kim Silva played drums. I played bass. |

// Other Studio Work // I retreated to the mountains to produce and mix the smart and boozy indie-rawk debut, Legendary Grace in Collapse, by Arcata's Durango 95. They gave me a lot of rope. Listen to Durango 95 A longtime friend, Xeff Scolari of Chowderhead, invited me round for the initial tracking sessions of his farmadelic second record, Absence. I stayed long enough to engineer a few tracks and drop a name on Sierra's little rocker, and the band sent me stumbling home to design the album's cover. Listen to Chowderhead |
